Between alcohol and smoking, if my patients are willing to quit only one of them, I tell them to quit smoking. Smoking causes pancreatic cancer, which is a deadly disease with a survival usually less than 1-2 years. Vaping is a form of smoking cessation where they inhale and exhale an e-juice called propylene glycol and not nicotine. Vaping has so many chemicals like acrolein, diacetide, formaldehyde which can cause the same effect as smoking. I am certain that even vaping will also cause pancreatic cancer down the road – So, no smoking and no vaping.
