An AI agent went rogue at Meta, exposing sensitive company and user data to employees who did not have permission to access.
Per an incident report, which was viewed and reported on by The Information, a Meta employee posted on an internal forum asking for help with a technical question ā which is a standard action. However, another engineer asked an AI agent to help analyze the question, and the agent ended up posting a response without asking the engineer for permission to share it. Meta confirmed the incident to The Information.
As it turns out, the AI agent did not give good advice. The employee who asked the question ended up taking actions based on the agentās guidance, which inadvertently made massive amounts of company and user-related data available to engineers who were not authorized to access it for two hours.
Meta deemed the incident a āSev 1,ā which is the second-highest level of severity in the companyās internal system for measuring security issues.
Rogue AI agents have already posed a problem at Meta. Summer Yue, a safety and alignment director at Meta Superintelligence, posted on X last month describing how her OpenClaw agent ended up deleting her entire inbox, even though she told it to confirm with her before taking any action.
Still, Meta seems bullish on the potential for agentic AI. Just last week, Meta bought Moltbook, a Reddit-like social media site for OpenClaw agents to communicate with one another.

Jenelle Evansā mom Barbara Evans made a frantic 911 call during a disturbing incident involving her grandson, Jace ā¦ telling dispatchers he had a gun to his head and was threatening to kill himself.
In the call — obtained by TMZ — Barbara makes a desperate plea for help, telling the dispatcher she needs officers to come talk to her immediately because her grandson is on probation and destroying her house in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
Barbara then describes the terrifying moment that prompted the call ā¦ saying Jace āhad a gun to his headā and told her he was going to āblow his brains out.ā
She’s then heard breaking down in tears … saying Jace is screaming at her and trying to harm her. Once the dispatcher assures her officers are on the way, Barbara asks for cops not to show up at her house because she’s worried Jace will destroy the rest of it.
As we reported ā¦ the harrowing incident — which went down February 22 — ultimately led to Jace being placed in a mental health facility, where he continues to receive treatment. Weāre told there were also concerns about possible substance use, with sources telling us Jace had been drinking and using drugs in the lead-up to the ordeal.
Despite it all ā¦ Barbara is still fighting to be with Jace, telling us she plans to present evidence in court next week at a temporary custody hearing.
